A Morning Swim, an Unusual Breakfast, and a Hike-Run
Road Trip day 3
This morning started with packing the car and heading straight to the pool for a 2600m sprint session. It went by pretty fast, and afterward, I decided on an unusual breakfast: a quick stop at Coles, a few wraps, and a solid layer of Nutella and peanut butter.
Fueled up, I hit the road towards the famous 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road. I knew it would be popular, but wow — it felt like every tourist in Australia showed up at the exact same time. Absolute chaos.
After a quick lunch, I laced up for a hike-run (which honestly turned into more of a run than a hike). I avoided the super touristy Insta-crowd lookout and instead headed down to the beach. Way better. Running along the sand, climbing up the stairs, looping through the dunes — it was epic. The sound of huge waves crashing on the rocks kept me company the whole way.
Mid-run, I regretted wearing long sleeves... Big mistake. By the time I finished, I was drenched in sweat. I poured a full bottle of water over myself to cool down, changed into fresh clothes, and felt like a new person.
Then came dinner plans — and a little booking disaster. I accidentally booked a place in the UK... in a town with the same name as the one I was actually trying to stay in here in Australia. 😂 Needless to say, no flight was booked. Instead, I quickly found a nice spot in Torquay (the Australian one this time).
Now I’m chilling, making some loose plans for tomorrow.
But for the rest of this road trip blog —
NO SPOILERS.
Catch you tomorrow.
Until then, Quirijn Out.
